Hello, you've reached Ema Skye! Sorry, I can't come to the phone right now but leave a message and I'll get back to you as soon as I can! Have a nice day.
Well I have no evidence to support the claim, but for the sake of simplicity, a movie date might be best. I know he likes popcorn. And she's never had a television before.
And I'd believe it. People fall down and hit their heads all the time. I know I have, but we should still check it, make sure you don't have a concussion. But hey, gimme a boost and we'll get out of here.
[ As soon as he's standing he smooths down his clothes a bit, or at least tries to. A lot of the pink slime is gone but there are still places it is sticking. Hopefully the magical (?) properties of it have gone now the rolling is over. ]
Probably should wash too. [ He moves to hold his hands out so she can step up though. Considering his height in comparison it won't take him too long to climb this "wall" ]
[Yes, but the slime is at least stopped. Gooey and gross as it is, they aren't rolling anymore. Which is a welcome reprieve. Ema hops up into his hands and kips on out, wriggling clear and spinning to offer him her hands.]
Probably. But concussion triage first. I don't want you suffering brain damage for saving me.
[ He only takes one hand, instead using the other in the wall because he doesn't want her to have to take his entire weight. He pulls himself up slowly, only replying once he's safely out and trying to dust off dirt on any clean patches of clothing he might have (there aren't many) ]
Brain-- I'm sure it isn't that serious! [ Ema, please... ]
[Ema giggles a little bit as he pats himself down and starts fishing in her bag. A moment later she's thrusting a water-bottle at him, and two white pills.]
Take that first, and drink. It's water, and medicine. Good for you. And then turn around so I can check for knots.
[ He takes the water hesitantly, but no where near as much as the two white pills. He's used to medicine being in liquid form. It means he ends up squinting at the two pills first, looking back at her incredulously. ]
This is medicine? [ Ah, oops, sorry Ema. He swallows them when prompted again, then turns slowly so she can get on with whatever it is she wants to do. He has no idea how someone this young knows so much about science, but for once he'll keep his mouth shut on the issue. ]
What kind of herbs does it even use? [ He moves his tongue in his mouth, as if trying to get an after taste of it. He's just... too used to Old Medicinal Methods okay?
Though that stops when she pokes the back of his head. Ow??! ]
What are you doing? [ Yeah, he sure jerked away from her as it feels sore still. Apparently yelling out is the way to handle this. He covers it now with his hand anyway, meaning Ema can't start jabbing away again. Rude, to be honest. ]
Should we head back now then? I'd really like to get cleaned up anyway. [ A pause. ] And you must be freezing.
It’s got a lot of little things in it. It’s kind of complicated, but it’s not actually an herb. It’s something that people have…um…I guess taken the good things out of an plant and combined them with other things and pressed them into a pill. I don’t know the specific ingredients to Aspirin though.
[She giggles a little bit and shakes her head.] And I was checking for shock. You’re fine. And…yeah. I guess we should. I need to have a bath and clean up.
Something else to learn, I suppose. [ He sighs that out, but it isn't exactly in a bad way. The only bad thing here is how she attempted to check for shock. ]
And you didn't think of just asking? [ Ema please??? ] What if there had been damage or... something?
[ BUT THERE WASN'T... Which is why he just licks his lips and shakes his head. At least when he looks away he's obviously thinking about how she obviously meant well. Something like that. ]
Nevermind. Lets just. [ He indicates to walk. ] I'll walk you home first.
[ It actually takes five times of Merlin picking up and putting down his CereVice to maybe call Ema first because he can't think of how to start a conversation. Phones were never a thing for him, and the idea of not just going to see someone and to ask like this first is even more bizarre. No one would get anything done in his time if you went sending letters with messages to ask if you could meet instead of just going to the other person's place instead.
It's when he picks it up for the sixth time that he gives up, jamming it into his pocket with his card and access to the apartment then he's off out the door. The fact that all the apartments are in the same place makes it much easier when it comes to visiting someone. In the end it only takes around ten minutes to get there.
The only problem is that instead of hesitating in front of a piece of technology, he's not hesitating in front of the door. He presses both hands in front of his mouth, trying to think of the best reason for this visit. He knows why, of course. Just to talk. Get to know each other better. It's just hard to think of a social visit as alright when he's only really had to visit Gwen or Morgana when they were in danger or with a message from Arthur.
aka. He's a hot mess of nerves.
It's why instead of knocking normally, his head just drops forward to crash into the door. ]
[Ema's just having a pretty ordinary little day, having come home from school a little early. The Chemistry teacher was pretty fed up with her going on tangents and had just said to take an A in the class and to just work on assignments from home today. Who's she to say no to that? Nobody, that's who. So she's just bopping around her living room, taking care of some housework, reading, and just hanging out. Pretty quiet afternoon, if you ask her.
But then, she hears a thump on her front door and looks up. Oh hell, that had better not be another ghost. Ugh, she's not sure she can handle another weird incident right now. Still, better safe than sorry! Getting up, she picks up her Ghost-Busting Vacuum and makes her way to the door, ready to bust like a pro when she hits the access button...
And outside is one Merlin. Staring down the end of a standing vacuum cleaner hose.]
[ If he knew more about ghosts it might be possible to tell her that they don't usually make noises like that, though he also would have no idea if CERES ghosts would be different anyway.
Either way, when the door opens and he comes face to face with a vacuum cleaner he wonders if he hit his head too hard. He steps back hurriedly, before any injuries happen, then looks down at the object in her hands. ]
I'm not that dirty am I? [ Thank you Shigeru for being the guy everyone needs to tell you how everything works or he would have been even more confused. ]
[She...lowers the vacuum cleaner and blinks up at him. And then quickly sets it aside and blushes because omg, what! She just pointed a vacuum at a person! How ridiculous!]
No! I thought, maybe...last time someone came knocking here it was a ghost.
[nobody said she had a whole lot of common sense, but it was true. She'd been visited by several. And they'd all ended up inside her vacuum, of course.]
So I thought maybe...but no...hah...[An awkward laugh.]
[ It is a bit ridiculous. The way he has to bite his lip, a smile creeping up as he watches her discard it only proving that he's trying to hold back a laugh. ]
Do ghosts... usually knock, here? [ Merlin stop teasing her. ] I just wanted to see how you are. I guess you could say I'm still not used to the technology they have here so this... seemed like a good idea?
[ But maybe not if she's going to attack him with a vacuum cleaner?!?! ]
